#YouAreEnough30days Blog Challenge

Mandy Hale is an inspiration to me because I can relate to her story about being single. She exudes positivity while being authentic. As a writer and blogger, I am taking her 30-day blogging challenge.

Here's an excerpt from her blog:

I did “The Single Woman’s 30-Day Blogging Challenge” a few years ago and it was a big hit, so I wanted to do another one in conjunction with my new book, You Are Enough. Except this time around, we’re not focused on our singleness, but on our “enough-ness.” Our sense of worth. Our ability to love and accept ourselves, just as we are. The goal by the end of the thirty days would be for everyone participating to feel a little more ENOUGH than they did when they first started. Just like the goal of the book is to remind you that you, just as you are, in whatever form you are in right now – the heartbroken one, the healing one, the whole one – YOU. ARE. ENOUGH.

If you don’t have a blog…no worries! You can still join in on the social media platform of your choice. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr…anywhere online where you feel free to share your voice. Just make sure you tag me on any of my social media platforms and also use the hashtag #YouAreEnough30 so other people can follow your posts, too. (And I’m going to be blogging right along with you guys!)

Day 1: In the Introduction of #YouAreEnough, I [Mandy Hale] talk about my “Enough” tattoo and why it was important to me to have this word imprinted on my wrist. Talk about a tattoo you have that is meaningful to you…or if you don’t have any tattoos, the tattoo you would get if you were going to get one.

November 1, 2018: I (Laura Hughes) am not a fan of having tattoos on my body because twenty years from now, I probably won’t like how it looks on my aging body. I also won’t get a tattoo because I know the process is painful and I cannot stand needles. Whenever I had blood work done, I passed out when I saw the needle in me. If I were to ever get a tattoo (that would be a huge shock to everyone who knows me), it would be a short phrase as a reminder that I am enough and God is bigger than my enough-ness or a sunflower (my favorite flower). My imaginary tattoo might say, “More of You Lord” and be placed on the inside of my wrist in small writing, preferably in cursive. This phrase represents the life I want and try to have as a growing Christian. Every single day, I have to make the choice about who comes first in my life: me or God. Though my actions don’t always say “God,” my heart says “God.”

My other tattoo would be a small sunflower on my ankle. In order to get that done, I would insist on being put under because I don’t want to feel the pain of the needle poking me. Sunflowers have always been my favorite flower and if a man gives me one I am hooked. I think roses are so cliché while sunflowers are unique (like me), bright, and stand out in a crowd. Though I’m not the type of person who wants to stand out in a crowd, God wants my light to shine before others so that they may see my good works and glorify my God who is in Heaven (Matthew 5:16). The sunflower symbolizes my uniqueness and the yellow in the petals always brightens my day.
